WSOP 2010

Wold Series of Poker 2010The World Series of Poker is finally here for its 2010 instalment. As many Aussies prepare to set off to hopefully live out their poker dreams many of the less fortunate will be at home sweating the action from their homes across the nation. With a jam packed schedule 2010’s WSOP will hope to deliver an even better series than ever before.

Starting off with the highly anticipated Event #1, the Casino Employees event which within the industry is a pinnacle for all poker dealers within Las Vegas and the world. Followed is Event #2, the $50k poker players championship, which will show who is truly the best all round poker player in the world. With 57 events planned for this series the organisers of the WSOP will have their hands full for the entire American Summer.

The marquee events on this years schedule are the $50k buy-in Poker Players Championship, $10k buy-in championships including a seven card stud, seven card stud Hi-Lo 8 or better, 2-7 Draw Lowball, Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better, Limit Holdem, Heads-up No Limit, Pot Limit Holdem, H.O.R.S.E, Pot Limit Omaha and Omaha Hi-Low 8 or better. Also on the schedule is the Tournament of Champions which is always a fantastic event. All culminating in event #57 the No-Limit Holdem Championship, the main event of the series.

The spotlight will be on the main event to see if the trend of young amateurs and semi pros can continue to shine through the days and days of play to come out victorious. Last years winner Joe Cada was 21 years old when he won the main event becoming the youngest winner just beating out 2008 main event winner Peter Eastgate for the title of youngest winner. All eyes will be on Cada to see if he can run deep in the main event this year. Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem and Peter Eastgate all had deep runs in the main event the year after winning it; we will see if Cada can also run deep this year.

The hotly contested Player of the Year title will again be up for grabs this year. Last years winner, Australian Jeff Listandro was a run away winner, winning 3 bracelets during the 2009 series. He is reported saying that “it is harder than it looks”.

We will look forward to bring you up-to date reports on all PokerStars players making it deep as well as local Australian players.
