ANZPT - Australia New Zealand Poker Tour

The Australia New Zealand Poker Tour is a series of tournaments within the Australia and New Zealand casinos. Currently in season 2 and running from February through to October. There are 7 different stops in the current season from as far as Perth’s Burswood casino to Queenstown’s Sky City casino.

The tour is a Poker Stars sponsored tour with online satellites running daily for the next stop on the tour. The ANZPT is lead by Danny McDonagh

Danny McDonagh has planned, promoted and directed poker tournaments in Australia since 1998. He was at the helm of every major poker tournament at the Crown Casino, from its opening through to the 2008 Aussie Millions, a championship which has gained an excellent reputation among leading poker players. He has also been tournament director for two televised poker tournaments series in Australia.

Danny was an original partner of Poker Network and he established poker tours to, and live internet coverage of, the WHUPC in Vienna, St Petersburg, Moscow, New Zealand and Slovenia.

Danny is Tournament Director for the Asia Pacific Poker Tour and PokerStars Macau and will combine his overseeing role as commissioner for the ANZPT with hands-on involvement in the running of ANZPT tournaments.

ANZPT - Sydney

The ANZPT made its 3rd stop of the 2010 season at Sydney’s Star City Casino last week. 446 players descended on Sydney’s premier poker room at Star City Casino, all handing over the $2,200 buy-in main event entry. After 3 full days of play the final table was set and would resume the next day, leading the field was Michael O’Grady with a dominating chip lead with 2.3 million in chips with the second closest being Angelo Hanataj with 1.9 million with Ka Ming Fang rounding out the short stack with 288k.
